Nectarine Blossoms – 59/365
Before you get the fruit nectarine, you get its blossoms which are these light pink flowers. They are really pretty. It seems like the blossoms this year were a lot bigger, so hopefully the fruit is bigger as well and a lot sweeter from the other years. Either way, the fruit goes very well with vanilla ice cream. It makes me think of those peaches you add for desserts, but it’s even better than that.
Afternoon Tea – 58/365
My brother was drinking some milk tea that he bought from a Japanese supermarket, so I went to get a cup of it myself. I really like it. It is named “午後の紅茶” or “Afternoon Tea,” and it is made by a Japanese beverage company named Kirin. The flavor of it made me think of a Pocky flavor named Royal Milk Tea. Hahaha. Man, I miss collecting Pocky boxes. It’s unfortunate that most of you don’t know about my craze of collecting Pocky boxes, especially back in my high school days, but maybe someday I will write about it. I stopped collecting, too, so it kind of sucks. Oh well. That’s another story.
On the side note, I don’t know Japanese. I can only read the Kanji alphabet because they are Chinese words, but I don’t know how is it used and what does it mean. I just copy and paste from what I find on the internet. Feel free to correct me if there’s anything wrong. Thanks.
J455 – “Gintong Kasaysayan” Mural – 57/365

13 photos total. (more)
After talking to Professor Blumenkrantz this afternoon, Jonathan and I got a new insight to our documentary project (more info about that on the next journal entry), so we went down to Historic Filipinotown again but to look at the mural. The mural is called “Gintong Kasaysayan, Gintong Pamana,” and it was created by Eilseo Art Silva. It represents history and culture of Filipinos and Filipino Americans. There are definitely so many elements on the mural that it was just amazing. I don’t really know much (or at all) about the history and culture of Filipinos and Filipino Americans, but looking at it visually as an art was very wonderful and powerful. I was also surprised that no one really did any (or any visible) graffiti on it, and I’m glad that there weren’t.
