St. Patrick’s Day Food Specials – 76/365

I suppose it’s sort of cute that the school’s Sierra Marketplace caters some St. Patrick’s Day specials such as the Irish soup (top) and the roasted beef and cabbage with a side — mine being mashed potatoes (bottom). The Irish soup consisted of roasted beef, onions, carrots, celery, and red potatoes. The flavor was light, but it still had a good amount of flavor. I think if the soup had a tomato paste base, the flavor would’ve been even richer, but it was nice overall.

On the other hand, I didn’t really like the roasted beef and cabbage with a side. First, I’m not even sure if it was roasted beef since it didn’t even taste like beef, but it wasn’t really pork either. It made me pretty nervous there. Second, the flavor was very salty. The more I ate it, the more I hated it. I tried to combine the saltiness with the mashed potatoes, which didn’t have a whole lot of flavor by the way, but it just didn’t blend well together. In the end, I threw the last few bites away because I just couldn’t stand it anymore. If this ever goes on the menu again, I will be sure to not order it. The soup was so much better.

Haha, I do like the picture of the soup better than the roasted beef and cabbages…
