A Variety – 117/365

A couple of people in the newsroom were joking around about the swine flu that has been circulating on the news lately. I didn’t hear all of it, but it was pretty ridiculously funny at the things they were saying. After the jokes, Chelsea wrote this in front of her office.

Jonathan and I also got our Flickr (Blurb, rather) books last Friday, so Jonathan gave me my copy today, and it looks awesome! I’m happy about how it turned out. The photos were all in high resolution and the way we saw it in the program. Now I just have to remember to ask Jonathan to import the completed book file, so I can upload the book onto my Blurb account. Then people have access to preview and buy it as they please.

Professor Blumekrantz told us if we make a photo essay layout on Adobe Photoshop and pay him $3, he would help us print it out at Costco and display it in the cases on the first floor of Manzanita Hall. So, that’s what Jonathan and I did last Tuesday night with the deadline at 11 p.m. It turned out nicely, though. Thanks to Jonathan! We spent a good while finding the right alignment between the images, too. Haha.

New Cell Phone – 116/365

116/365

Whee, I finally got a new cell phone today! It’s the one on the left, and it can play music as long as you store it into a MicroSD card. Unfortunately, the box didn’t come with a free one, so I had to use my Nintendo DS Lite’s MicroSD for the time being. I also got a texting plan on my cell, so I can write and receive texts without it costing 20 cents each!

By the way, can you believe that I have been using my old one (on the right) for over 6 years?! Haha. I remember getting this cell phone because JC used it back then, and it was like two Jenny’s using the same phone. *cough* I got sick of it really fast, too, but I never bothered changing it. I’m glad that I got a new one, though, especially with the texting since everyone texts now. Yay!

Roommate Selection – 115/365

115/365

  • The dorms currently cost $601 a month whereas next year costs $669 a month.
  • The dorms changed a lot of rules this school year. Examples include gate closure everyday at 7 p.m., guest registration one day in advance, unregistered guests have to leave by 1 a.m.
  • Student Housing emailed future residents of the dorm about roommate selections on April 25th, but they did not specify what time did it began whereas they specified what time last year.
  • Logging onto housing portal this time was a lot smoother than last year’s, like there weren’t any crashes and/or errors due to busy online traffic.
  • I got the room I wanted with Kanie, the girl I met on Wednesday who’s also Grecia’s childhood friend, very easily.
  • There is still a large amount of empty rooms available according to the housing portal.
  • So, why is there still a large amount of empty rooms? Students forgot that it was roommate selections today? Inflation in terms of monthly cost? The new changes that the dorm made this year?

That’s just a little something I had in mind. I’m glad that logging onto housing portal wasn’t as bad as last year, though. It was so annoying then, like it took me a while to get all the roommates I wanted due to people taking the room before I did. The server would crash, too.

Well, I’m going to be living in building 8 (Bayberry Hall) instead of building 7 (Torrey Pine Hall) this time because Bohdi is going to be the RA on the first floor, and that’s the floor I have chosen to live, too. After two years living on the third floor with no elevators, it’s so annoying to move and carry things in and out. I think it’s going to be fun to be living on the same floor as Bohdi, though, because he’s a photojournalism major, and it’s just cool to keep in touch with people who studies the same thing. There aren’t many photojournalism majors at school either…
