Spring Break Day #1: Lunch and a Movie

Tokyo Wako

Tokyo Wako

Tokyo Wako

Today was my first day of spring break. I hung out with Shirley and Thinzar because I haven’t really hung out with them since winter break. The three of us went to Tokyo Wako since Thinzar was in the mood for teppanyaki, a Japanese cuisine that uses an iron griddle to cook food. She wanted to go to Benihana, but the nearest one was in the City of Industry, so I suggested we should go to the Tokyo Wako since it’s in Arcadia. Our chef seemed alright. He said hi and just went straight to cooking without being too entertaining. In fact, he seemed kind of aloof. He did the classic onion volcano, but I think that’s just part of the show. When he finished cooking, he just left right away. Kind of meh. Then this waitress demanded us to give her the money because I guess their lunch hours were over, but she never came back with our change. It was so messed up. We had to find the manager. Once we found him, he gave us back our change, and we just never gave them a tip at all. Ugh, such poor service.

Red Robin

Red Robin

Niki and I haven’t hung out with each other since I believe the last time we went to Universal City Walk last semester, so we decided to meet up with each other to catch up on each other. Kanie came as well. Three of us went to eat at Red Robin at the Northridge Fashion Center because it was something simple and fairly cheap, especially since we’re college students. Haha. I ordered the Peachy Keen Splash, which was made by Minute Maid Lemonade, mixed with Monin Peach syrup, Sprite and diced peaches, for my drink. Can you believe it’s also free refills? Awesome deal, but I didn’t drink a lot because I was feeling really full. Then I ordered a classic, Red Robin Gourmet Cheeseburger, because I wasn’t really feeling like trying something different, like mushrooms, even though it does sound yummy. Well, the burger basically just had the basics: meat, lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles, etc. I didn’t even finish it. For some reason, I just didn’t feel hungry at all, even though I was wanting to hang out and eat. Oh well. Other than that, it was nice to catch up with Niki, and we even went to TJ Max to shop for a bit after eating.

Girl Scout Cookies

Girl Scout Cookies

Hehe, Girl Scout cookies made my day, or at least my short day at school. I only had one class today, and we mostly just watched a documentary about Asian gangs and violence, which made me feel sort of meh about the whole thing. I was just walking back to the tram stop and saw these little girls with wagons filled with cookies. I got excited because the last time I saw them was at the huge protest on campus, and it was sort of chaotic to get their attention with the protest going on at the same time. I was bummed that I wouldn’t see them again, but I did today! I bought my favorite Thin Mints and the last box of Samoas that they had. I was somewhat tempted to get the new flavor they have for the year 2010, which was called Thank You Berry Munch. It’s a cranberry cookie with white chocolate chips. I tried such combination before (just not from Girl Scouts), and it’s very tasty, but the box they had for such flavor was much smaller than anything else they had, so I didn’t get it. I wanted to get my monies worth, thus goodbye to my $8 for the both boxes I got.
