For lunch today, I went to go eat at Pho Pioneer with my coworkers Jessica, Nani and Patrick. Nani was the one who recommended the place since she lives nearby and had said that this pho restaurant was good. Usually when it comes to pho, I order the house combination pho because it has everything, and it usually is the cheapest noodle soup out of the menu. Unfortunately, I have to say that I really did not like the pho that I had eaten. The ingredients didn’t seem that fresh, and there weren’t as much flavor as I had expected. I also thought it was kind of odd that the waitress gave us fortune cookies. This is a Vietnamese restaurant, and they gave you fortune cookies? Yeah. *shrug* Getting a random fortune was interesting, though.
As for dinner, my mom and I went to go eat at Tofu King because my cousin said that it was a good Taiwanese restaurant, and it really did not disappoint. My mom and i both shared the stinky tofu, which is a Taiwanese dish, and yes, it does smell, but it tasted good. They fried it enough that you can tell it was fried, but the tofu also soaked up the broth that it was cooked in. I also ordered the beef noodle soup to try out, and that was really tasty. The soup actually tasted like beef broth instead of just soy sauce and pepper, and the beef were perfectly cooked. I was happy about how the food tasted.
