the pillows at The Glass House
Thinzar invited me to go watch the pillows’ concert at The Glass House on May 23rd, so I went with her and her boyfriend Kuan. At first we weren’t sure if we could bring cameras into the concert, so we put the cameras back into the car. Then we saw many other people bringing out their digital cameras, so after the first band, Kuan went back to get his stuff and my camera. Thank you!
The first band was POP CHOCOLAT, and here are some CD’s of theirs. They seem to be a pretty big favorite among people, so many of their stuff were sold out, and the band even had to burn copies of their music for people. I thought their music was pretty good, and the voice was also nice. They also seemed to connect with the audience pretty well. Check out their autograph. So cute~
The second that played was Monokuro. They seemed more energetic in terms of what’s going on stage than being more musically talented. I thought theirs was okay.
The third band was called Noodles, an all girl band, so there is a girl on the bass, a girl on the vocals/guitar, and another one on the drums. Their music was alright, but they seem disconnected from the audience a tad bit.
Last but not least, the pillows came on! I thought Sawao Yamanaka’s shirt had some interesting words on it, so I took a photo of his back when he was getting ready with his guitar and everything. Haha.
And what’s awesome about The Glass House in Pomona is the fact that you can stand on the side. The downfall is that you are not necessarily really close to the stage, but when you have a far zoom camera, it kind of makes up for it.
Afternoon Tea – 58/365
My brother was drinking some milk tea that he bought from a Japanese supermarket, so I went to get a cup of it myself. I really like it. It is named “午後の紅茶” or “Afternoon Tea,” and it is made by a Japanese beverage company named Kirin. The flavor of it made me think of a Pocky flavor named Royal Milk Tea. Hahaha. Man, I miss collecting Pocky boxes. It’s unfortunate that most of you don’t know about my craze of collecting Pocky boxes, especially back in my high school days, but maybe someday I will write about it. I stopped collecting, too, so it kind of sucks. Oh well. That’s another story.
On the side note, I don’t know Japanese. I can only read the Kanji alphabet because they are Chinese words, but I don’t know how is it used and what does it mean. I just copy and paste from what I find on the internet. Feel free to correct me if there’s anything wrong. Thanks.
