Hanging Out w/ Jennifer
This might sound silly, but I picked up two rubber duckies from Earth Fair yesterday, and since I know Jennifer loves them so much, I walked to her church earlier today to visit her. Kanie also came along. She really liked the rubber duckies I gave her, so that’s good. Was this the only reason I went to visit her? Well, yeah. I mean, we were planning to go to Matador Nights on campus, but she is doing this 30 hour famine thing with her church.
Jennifer was sketching out how she wants to work on the huge posters her church was going to post to get people’s attention on the streets. So there’s the flyer on the left and her sketch on the right. Isn’t she just so good at art? Haha.
Here’s Kanie, Mike and Christine working on the poster. Jennifer did the art, and we all just colored. It was fun, though. Maybe it’s just because I like art and coloring…
The Surreal Theatrical – 120/365
Today is the last day of Professor David Blumenkrantz’s MFA art gallery called The Surreal Theatrical, so I went to check it out. (I also get extra credit for my Photojournalism class if I write a paper about it, too.) It is basically street photography on Broadway in Downtown Los Angeles, and the photos are awesome. It kind of reminded me of my documentary project because it is about a certain location. You can find more information about it here, and he also made a book through Blurb. You can find that here. It also has a preview!
Corita Kent Art Exhibit – 47/365
The school’s art gallery is currently having a Corita Kent exhibit called “Passion for the Possible: The Work of Sister Corita,” and I went there today to take a few photos there for the Daily Sundial. Some are going to be published tomorrow! But other than that, Corita’s artwork really amazed me. I really like the colors, random photographs, and messages that are in them. I took at least 180 different photos at the gallery, but I am definitely not going to upload them all, so here are some of the ones I really liked. She might have become one of my favorite artists!
In other news, here are the footage from the Miss Deaf CSUN Pageant last Friday! Check it out — there is video, haha.
