Banana Suit – 88/365

I woke up at 8:30 a.m. today so I could get to the newsroom before 10 a.m. to work on the Soundslides of yesterday’s event. I’m not sure if I had enough sleep because Bridget came back around 12:30 a.m. with her boyfriend, and they aren’t exactly the quietest ones. No, I don’t mean it that way (I know what you’re thinking), but her boyfriend snores when he sleeps. Every time the snore gets to its loudest, it startles me.

Anyway, I worked on the Soundslides for quite some while. First with the photos, then with the audio, and then altogether. It’s not easy, but it’s not hard either. Time consuming for sure. There were also a good amount of people in the newsroom. Mostly just editors, but at least I wasn’t the only one. I certainly was distracted by Daniel, the managing editor of the Daily Sundial (*cough*), who was dressed in the banana “suit” that were made from boxes. He was having a little too much fun with it, haha. I was curious about who made it, and it turned out to be Jorge, the layout designer. He got the idea from a magazine called Tokion, and it certainly was interesting to see the actual page of it in the magazine!

Working In The Newsroom – 46/365

I went to school today to work on the Miss Deaf CSUN Pageant video for the Daily Sundial tomorrow. It’s a lot of work, like cutting footages, transcribing it by listening and typing, etc. I ended up leaving when it’s not even done, so Jonathan is doing the rest of the work. Ahh, I feel bad, but a lot of thanks to Jonathan. I went grocery shopping with Bridget, my roommate, at Target. I’m pretty happy about that because I spent less than $20 on lots of food. I took some photos of random things that I found in the newsroom, and I believe there’s still a number of random things that I haven’t spotted yet. The last time I did this was on this entry with the computer monitor, so yeah. Haha.

Daily Sundial - Jan. 26, 2009

Today was my first day in the Daily Sundial newsroom for the weekly phone shifts, even though I didn’t really get to pick up any phone calls. I was supposed to reach this chemistry professor for an environmental portrait, but I couldn’t reach him at all, which makes me nervous because the deadline is tomorrow at 1 p.m. It made Jonathan say: “No freaking out in the newsroom.” Haha, but I can’t help it. I would have to see how it goes tomorrow. Other than that, I also saw a funny post-it note on the Macs in the newsroom, and a photo of mine got published on the front page today. Yay.

The digital camera I used for the photo is a Nikon COOLPIX P80.

Here’s the online edition of the story and bigger photo:
