Night Out With Friends

Updaaaaate. Haha. It actually feels good to update, but it really depends if I even have anything to show you guys. So, I actually have something! It was actually very great timing because I stayed at school to take the Upper Division Writing Proficiency Exam (UDWPE) this weekend, and I got to hang out with my friends (not from home) that came to celebrate my birthday again.

SanSai

Niki, Bridget, Kanie, Suren, Avo and I went to eat at this restaurant called SanSai Japanese Grill in Sherman Oaks. The price of their food was very cheap, and it looked like they had a wide variety of Japanese food as well. I ordered the Steak Bowl (above), and it came with a salad of your choice as well. How cool is that? This meal alone cost around $7 at most. It tasted good, too, like the beef was moist, the salad was very refreshing.

SanSai

Niki ordered the Spicy Sashimi Salad because Suren requested it for her. I had a few bites of the sashimi (raw fish), which was the red-orange looking mix, in the photo, and it tasted alright. It was a tad bit spicy, so I think if I ate more, I would’ve needed something to go along with it. I don’t think I would really order sashimi from this restaurant, though, because the restaurant is not your usual Japanese restaurant. I’m not saying it’s bad, it’s more just my preference.

Group Photo

Thanks to Suren for hooking everyone up at the ice skating rink that he works at. We all got in for free! We also got these tiny mittens for free, too. It was so nice of him to offer this. In this group photo (left to right), you have Bridget, Avo, me, Kanie, Niki’s two friends, and Niki herself.

21st Birthday Recap

Time is going by very fast, but I’m also not using it as wisely as I should. I am going to update as fast I can on my birthday since I haven’t updated about it. I especially want to get it done before October comes by, which is tomorrow! So, here is my belated birthday post. Thanks to everyone who came and celebrated with me.

21st Birthday

This is my first alcoholic drink at the age of 21, but it is also my first alcohol that I really drank for more than a tiny sip! Haha. I don’t even know what it is. Niki ordered it for me. It tasted like pineapple soda. Very sweet and delicious.

21st Birthday

Here’s a group photo of the girls: Kanie, me, Niki and Bridget. Niki planned most of this whole night together, which I’m extremely grateful. I invited Kanie and Bridget because I wanted them to come as well.

21st Birthday

Here’s a group photo of the guys: Avo, Khang and Suren. These were mostly Niki’s friends, but they were fun and nice guys to talk to. It was my first time meeting them as well. Haha.

University Ambassadors Retreat

University Ambassadors Retreat

Every year before the school starts, the University Ambassadors go onto a retreat where new and returning ambassadors bond together for a weekend. We went to a small camping site in Simi Valley, and it was near the mountains. I didn’t take as many photos as I usually would have, but there are some, so it is better than nothing. For the first night, we had to make up a poster with a group name, a song and a skit about the campus. Niki and Silvia (shown above) did most of the coloring on our poster after we have decided a name and a picture. We had markers, crayons and glitter, so the poster is very decorative.

We played a “Wheel of Jeopardy” game the next morning, which is a combination of the Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune game on TV. My cabin ended up getting third place or something in the end, but it is because we never really got any double or triple your points bonuses.

So, my cabin named ourselves the “Backstreet Banana Girls” because we all like Backstreet Boys, and we were talking about bananas for some reason. We finalized our decision after Regina brought out an entertainment magazine and turned to a page that had a picture of a banana on an advertisement. Isn’t the poster shiny? Haha.
