Honors Convocation

Honors Convocation 2010

Two weeks before graduation, I got a post card, saying that I am invited to go to Honors Convocation and that I should R.S.V.P. to get my spot. I was looking at my mom, like: “What? How did I get into Honors? Are they sure they got the right Jenny (since there is another Jenny with the same last name as I do who was also graduating the same year as me)?” My mom was like: “Well, this was in the mail, and it’s the right address, so it must be you.” I still sat on the couch dumbfounded. Then May 17th happened, and my mom drove the both of us and Kanie to CSUN. I sat and looked around. There was no one I really knew here.

So I started taking pictures. I was like: “Oooh, that’s my college right there” and zoomed in with using my camera. Hahaha. Yeeeeah, I didn’t really know what else to do.

I grabbed one of those program books and instantly looked for my name to make sure I was in here. As I was flipping through the pages, I was like: “HAHAHA, what if I really wasn’t in it, and I came all the way here from home?!” Then I saw my name, with my major AND concentration. I was like: “Whoa, I did make it to Honors…”

Niki and I haven’t hung out with each other since I believe the last time we went to Universal City Walk last semester, so we decided to meet up with each other to catch up on each other. Kanie came as well. Three of us went to eat at Red Robin at the Northridge Fashion Center because it was something simple and fairly cheap, especially since we’re college students. Haha. I ordered the Peachy Keen Splash, which was made by Minute Maid Lemonade, mixed with Monin Peach syrup, Sprite and diced peaches, for my drink. Can you believe it’s also free refills? Awesome deal, but I didn’t drink a lot because I was feeling really full. Then I ordered a classic, Red Robin Gourmet Cheeseburger, because I wasn’t really feeling like trying something different, like mushrooms, even though it does sound yummy. Well, the burger basically just had the basics: meat, lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles, etc. I didn’t even finish it. For some reason, I just didn’t feel hungry at all, even though I was wanting to hang out and eat. Oh well. Other than that, it was nice to catch up with Niki, and we even went to TJ Max to shop for a bit after eating.

March 4 “Day of Action”

CSUN Day of Action

CSUN Day of Action

CSUN Day of Action

Yesterday was the statewide “Day of Action” march, protest and rally all through California, and I decided to check out the day portion of the event since I was on campus getting my laptop checked for some internet connection issues. There were hundreds of CSUN students, and they went everywhere around campus. They even entered classrooms in Manzanita Hall to tell the students to “walk out” their class and join the protest. They also went and blocked the Nordhoff/Reseda intersection, which is one of the busiest intersections in Northridge. Cops came to tell them to get off the streets. I left around 3 p.m., but I hear the march, protest and rally got even more crazy later at night. A professor and a couple of students even got arrested.
