Eating at Universal City Walk
I went out to eat dinner with Kanie, Niki and two of Niki’s friends: Diane and Eric (Schauman) last night at Universal City Walk, but before dinner, Niki dragged us to go to Karl Strauss Brewing Company. I’m not even sure why besides tasting beer. Either way, it was my first time tasting beer, so Niki got me the “taster six,” included six small cups of different beers. Out of the six, I liked the Woodie Gold (most left) one the best. I wasn’t exactly fond of the taste since I really don’t think hops would taste good in any way possible, but it had a very crisp and clean finish, like a sparkling apple cider. I liked the Tower 10 Ipa (fifth left) the least, and I think it was the grapefruit that made me really not like it. I don’t really like grapefruit, so yeah. Well, it was pretty interesting to taste all these beers, even though I only had little sips of it and not everything. Kanie definitely shared some with me, and Eric helped finish a lot of it.

So, dinner time, like around 9 p.m. Haha. We went to Saddle Ranch Chop House, and I think it was mainly because of the mechanical bull and the dance floor, but the food wasn’t bad at all. In fact, it was delicious. Before my prime rib sandwich came to the table, we got these biscuits and cornbread, which had a sweet taste to it. I would’ve taken a photo of them, but everyone, including myself, was getting hungry, so we just ate it really quickly. Ah well. I really liked them. Then my prime rib sandwich came up, and it was very delicious as well. I finished my leftovers for lunch, and it was so good. Haha. The bread for the sandwich was actually garlic bread, and the prime rib was perfectly tender. The sauces were yummy, too, but I don’t think it was really needed. The loaded baked potato was delicious, too, with the sour cream butter with green onions, bacon and cheddar cheese. Nom om om.
After dinner, Niki and Diane kept on convincing me to go on the mechanical bull. I really didn’t want to, but I ended up going on it, and I really don’t think I lasted for anything. I even have photos of each of us on the bull, but I don’t want to upload any of them. Watching people do it and doing it yourself is so different, though, like it feels like time went by so fast when you’re on it. Then all of us went to the dance floor, which got really crowded. These guys even wanted to dance with all of us, so we got smushed more and more, and they really wanted to get close. A lot of people also had drinks in their hands, haha. We all stopped after a small fight broke out in the crowd, but it wasn’t anything serious. I don’t think anyone got hurt since the guards got the people in time. These two experiences were somewhat new to me, and I don’t think I would want to ride the mechanical bull again. I don’t think it was worth it.

Night Out With Friends
Updaaaaate. Haha. It actually feels good to update, but it really depends if I even have anything to show you guys. So, I actually have something! It was actually very great timing because I stayed at school to take the Upper Division Writing Proficiency Exam (UDWPE) this weekend, and I got to hang out with my friends (not from home) that came to celebrate my birthday again.
Niki, Bridget, Kanie, Suren, Avo and I went to eat at this restaurant called SanSai Japanese Grill in Sherman Oaks. The price of their food was very cheap, and it looked like they had a wide variety of Japanese food as well. I ordered the Steak Bowl (above), and it came with a salad of your choice as well. How cool is that? This meal alone cost around $7 at most. It tasted good, too, like the beef was moist, the salad was very refreshing.
Niki ordered the Spicy Sashimi Salad because Suren requested it for her. I had a few bites of the sashimi (raw fish), which was the red-orange looking mix, in the photo, and it tasted alright. It was a tad bit spicy, so I think if I ate more, I would’ve needed something to go along with it. I don’t think I would really order sashimi from this restaurant, though, because the restaurant is not your usual Japanese restaurant. I’m not saying it’s bad, it’s more just my preference.
Thanks to Suren for hooking everyone up at the ice skating rink that he works at. We all got in for free! We also got these tiny mittens for free, too. It was so nice of him to offer this. In this group photo (left to right), you have Bridget, Avo, me, Kanie, Niki’s two friends, and Niki herself.
